Klorane: Oat Milk Shampoo & Conditioner
What you use in your hair is almost as important as what you put on your skin when it’s sensitive. That’s particularly true if your hair comes into contact with your face. Klorane make a range of hair care products that are all designed to be gentle and not irritate sensitive skin but they also have one particular shampoo/conditioner combo that is specifically for sensitive skin called oat milk. Klorane’s dry shampoo is also of the oat milk variety which is probably why I found it so good to use on sensitive skin during camping (or any time you need it really).
Funnily enough I just found out online that Klorane make a range of other products too, for babies and skin included but only their hair care products hit the shelves in Australia. I’ve been a fan of their dry shampoo since I first tried it, but even before that I have used their shampoos. The rest of the time I cannot be fussed to do the trial and error that goes into testing a new shampoo so I just use baby shampoo, it’s *neever* caused me any problems as you’d expect, and it leaves the hair very soft. Unfortunately it doesn’t give me much volume.
Anyway back to Klorane’s oat milk. It is akin to the baby shampoo both in gentleness and the way it leaves the hair soft. I think that it actually washed the hair a little better. Often I have to double wash but with this I don’t as much (depending on if I have hair spray or gel in or not). Another thing I like about using this is that it has a matching conditioner unlike the baby shampoo (babies don’t need conditioner after-all!). Both smell great and leave the hair soft and clean. The smell isn’t strong mind you it’s just a faint, fresh shampoo-clean smell which I really like. I have tried a few of the Klorane range, the citrus, pomegranate, mango and chamomile shampoos (and maybe some I’ve forgotten) all at times when my hair needed different things (right now it needs volume & damage repair lol!). All of them are kind to sensitive skin but the oat milk shampoo & conditioner is particularly for when skin is sensitive or easily irritated, and the one safe bet I’ve found for eczema prone skin.
What shampoo & conditioner do you use for sensitive skin? Let me know by leaving a comment or filling in the suggestions form on the contact page. Looking forward to hearing what you use/suggest!

Klorane make the prettiest shampoo containers. i don’t know if it’s just me but i like to buy shampoo and conditioner that look good in my shower! lol
Sometimes i even buy a Klorane shampoo just because I like the flower on the bottle more than because its for my type of hair. I figure they are all pretty good and I don’t notice much difference myself anyway.
My best friend and I both suffered from dairy product allergies we had never thought of. We each had so many problems that never show upin an allergy exam. We just guessed we were getting colds and rashes constantly. Over 75% of caucasions have allergy symptoms related to dairy,& 90% of asians and africans. Dairy does not do a body good!
There is actually an enzyme in the human stomache that helps us digest milk. Some people do not have this enzyme (particularly people of african or asian descent) and cannot digest milk, causing all sorts of unpleasant symptoms. However most people of northern European ancestory (like myself) do have the ability to digest dairy products, I suspect after many generations of acclimatising to them. Even if you are dairy intolerant, topical use of dairy (on the skin or hair in a shampoo) shouldn’t cause any problems (unless you are directly allergic to milk, not just lacking the digestive enzyme).
Whatever you put on your skin, keep it as mild and as devoid of chemical as possible. There are just too many products today with parabens and additives that are harmful to skin. Also, when washing your clothes, make sure your clothes cleaner is made from natural ingredients. When washing, some of the detergent residues are still left on your clothes. This might cause skin allergies if you have sensitive skin. Use natural or organic liquid detergent. Liquid detergent gets easily dissolved in the washer compared to powder detergent so they are less likely to leave residues on your clothes.
